On Sunday 9th April the local Peterborough Kashmiri community witnessed an important event with a Reception at the Shalimar Gardens Restaurant on New Road in the City Centre. The Reception was to mark the visit of His Excellency Raja Farooq Hayder, former Premier of the State of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, his wife and other dignitaries to Peterborough and three other Cities with substantial Kashmiri populations.
