NO GUARANTEE FOR POST OFFICE FUTURE
Council (19/11/08) At the recent council Scrutiny committee, Tory members and officers refused to give a 100% guarantee that a city centre post office will be maintained. When questioned by Lib Dem leader Cllr Nick Sandford, they would not even promise to do all that they could to prevent loss of the post office when the current Corn Exchange building is vacated, nor did they provide any assurances not to terminate the current lease before Easter next year:

IS COUNCIL REVIEW A CRAFTY WAY OF REDUCING WAITING LISTS?
Communities (12/11/08) Lib Dems at the Town Hall, tell us that they have some reservations regarding the Councils recent announcement that they intend to undertake a “review of their housing register”. Given that, in essence, this means the Council sending out a letter requesting those on the existing waiting list, to return a form, its hoped that this is not some sort of cynical ploy of reducing the actual number of people waiting on the housing list:
