(19/11/08) At the recent council Scrutiny committee, Tory members and officers refused to give a 100% guarantee that a city centre post office will be maintained. When questioned by Lib Dem leader Cllr Nick Sandford, they would not even promise to do all that they could to prevent loss of the post office when the current Corn Exchange building is vacated, nor did they provide any assurances not to terminate the current lease before Easter next year:
