Supreme Court ruling tomorrow on whether the government can appeal the high court ruling last year, which found in favour of Jon Platt,a parent who took his child on holiday in school term time. LibDems are the only party whose policy it is to support parent s on this issue. It has been party policy since September 2015 to repeal Gove’s regulations on this & return to the situation where Headteachers had discretion to allow up to 10 days absence per year .
At the latest Annual Council meeting, an attempt was made by Cllr David Harrington (Indp, Newborough) and leader of the Peterborough Independent Forum (which now includes 3 UKIP councillors) to oust Tory leader Cllr Cereste, through a formal motion to the Council at the town hall. The best bit was, the intention to replace Cllr Cereste with ………… himself! The attempt FAILED with 32 councillors voting against the motion, 14 supporting it and 10 abstained from voting.
