How much extra are you paying for Brown Bin collection ?

  The Garden Waste Service, aka Brown Bin Tax, has been offered for a while now. Some would say that it is fair that households that use the service should pay separately, but is it fair that the service is a flat fee regardless of the size of house. The effective increase to a Band A house is 5.1% in the Peterborough City Council element of the council tax bill, in comparison with a 1.7% on a Band H house. The Idea was opposed by the Lib Dem group at the Town Hall, but as always the blues choose to ignore public opinion! Not a single Tory councillor opposed the scheme at the recent meeting to discuss their proposed budget! Tory Council backtracks “slightly” over Brown Bins collection plans!

Following residential concerns after the Tory controlled City Council announced that the garden waste collection service had “..been suspended for the longest ever time of more than three months…” – Peterborough Liberal Democrat City Councillors have now been informed that the Tory Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Waste Management has backtracked ……….. slightly!
