  Well known City Councillor and local activist, Darren Fower, has has been elected by members of the Peterborough Liberal Democrats, to be their party candidate in the 2015 General Election for the Peterborough constituency, on May 7th. The vote at a recent hustings meeting, held at the Newark Hotel, on Eastfield Rd, also saw members select Cllr Nick Sandford as the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the North West Cambridgeshire constituency. Tory City Councillor for Eye and Thorney hands in his resignation!

In a communication from the Director of Governance at Peterborough City Council, elected members have been informed that “….a letter from Councillor Dale McKean tendering his resignation……” has been received. Adding, that the resignation is with immediate effect, leaving local residents of the Eye and Thorney Ward, with only one councillor between now and until the end of May, when the local elections take place. Members have been asked NOT to send him any further Council material, but NO REASON has yet been given for the resignation? Local LIB DEM councillor Darren joins school group

  Local Lib Dem city councillor Darren Fower (above) has joined a special new council committee set up to look at educational outcomes for local young people. Of 57 councillors at the Town Hall, only four have been chosen for this new group. Free childcare for hundreds of two-year-olds in Peterborough

Hundreds of disadvantaged two-year-olds in Peterborough are now receiving up to 15 hours a week of free childcare, just weeks after free pre-school education was introduced! Liberal Democrat City Councillor, Darren Fower has welcomed the news, as evidence shows that two-year-olds who have access to good and outstanding nurseries and childminders benefit in terms of their early language skills, and physical, social and emotional development. Liberal Democrats in Government want to see more eligible two-year-olds in high quality early education.
