What do YOU think of the LATEST announcement Re: North Westgate?

As far back as 2012, there have been reports of delays regarding the development of North Westgate and the long-standing plans to redevelop this area of Peterborough. Now, an announcement by Peter Breach, Chairman of Hawksworth Securities plc, has informed city councillors that they will be submitting a planning application for the development later this spring. According to the update, the company’s vision is to: “….. create a new regional leisure quarter in the centre of Peterborough, featuring an attractive piazza and multiplex cinema. LATEST North East Urban Safer, Stronger Neighbourhoods meeting @PboroCops

The latest North East Urban Safer, Stronger Neighbourhoods meeting took place on the 8th July, and was held at Paston Ridings Primary School. The meeting was poorly attended, with just 7 local residents in attendance, from an area population in excess of 24,000, which equates to just 0.02% of local residents! It was also noted that out of a possible 11 City Councillors covering Gunthorpe, Paston, Werrington and Walton, just 3 city councillors attended. Tory City Councillor for Eye and Thorney hands in his resignation!

In a communication from the Director of Governance at Peterborough City Council, elected members have been informed that “….a letter from Councillor Dale McKean tendering his resignation……” has been received. Adding, that the resignation is with immediate effect, leaving local residents of the Eye and Thorney Ward, with only one councillor between now and until the end of May, when the local elections take place. Members have been asked NOT to send him any further Council material, but NO REASON has yet been given for the resignation? #Tory Councillors STILL get thousands of extra £’s DESPITE rejecting an allowance rise! #PeterboroughCC

  Conservative controlled Peterborough City Council have announced that city councillors have rejected a proposal to raise their basic allowance payments by over £2,000! The proposal, put forward by the Independent Remuneration Panel, set up to make such decisions, to prevent City Councillors actually deciding how much they get paid, would have seen the basic allowance for city councillors rise from £7,165.95 to £9,300 per year. Tory Council backtracks “slightly” over Brown Bins collection plans!

Following residential concerns after the Tory controlled City Council announced that the garden waste collection service had “..been suspended for the longest ever time of more than three months…” – Peterborough Liberal Democrat City Councillors have now been informed that the Tory Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Waste Management has backtracked ……….. slightly!
