Food Glorious Food

The weather is getting colder and the nights are drawing in, Christmas is coming….. Is Christmas-time something everyone looks forward to?  The people who visit the food bank every Thursday at the Hampton CSK Church have mixed views.  The costs of purchasing presents and the additional expensive food stuffs for the festive season are enough to push many families finances over the limit.  Its a time the food bank experiences higher than normal visits, which means we are an essential form of temporary support for those families that are already living week to week. The food bank operates from 19:00 to 21:00 every Thursday where they offer free grocery support[…]

St George’s Community Hydrotherapy Pool

St Georges Community Hydrotherapy Pool  Back in December I was lucky enough to be asked to visit St George’s Community Hydrotherapy Pool by the lovely Karen Oldale. I of course graciously accepted this invitation. Upon my visit, I invited a fellow Liberal Democrat to accompany me. Although I had family members that had made use of the pool through their careers; I hadn’t visited myself before. When we arrived we were very warmly welcomed by the whole team and were provided with Lovely Blue Shoe Covers (Ha Ha). We were then taken on a tour by the Lovely Robert and Karen who explained the ins and outs of the pool![…]

“We Feel Trapped In Our Own Homes” Says Peterborough Resident

Residents of Cleveland Court and The Pentlands Residents are seeing significant issues during school times; along with many other residents in Gunthorpe/Werrington and Peterborough. As you all probably already know, I have been working closely with the Local Primary Schools to try and help tackle/ease the ongoing parking issues we have during Pickup and Drop Off times. After various Facebook Posts and Blog Posts (Click to Remind Yourself) I had been contacted by various residents of both of these streets and many others . The Residents are sadly being made to feel ‘Trapped’ in their own homes and fear for their safety ( in the case of an emergency) during[…]

Vandalism in Peterborough

You may have seen Peterborough Today’s recent articles regarding the extreme Vandalism at Ferry Meadows.  Sadly over the past few days there has been vandalism to the Children’s Play Areas, Trees and Memorial Benches at Ferry Meadows in Peterborough. The Vandals carried this during the evening and it has been reported whomever carried this out; did so with a saw. It deeply saddens me that such thing is happening in Peterborough. I’m sure that many Peterborians have visited Ferry Meadows and probably have many happy childhood memories there. I can speak for myself, my friends and my family when I say I do. It is absolutely appalling that anyone could deem[…]

SAFER PARKING UPDATE (GUNTHORPE)

Do you live in Gunthorpe? Does your Child or a Family Member attend NORWOOD PRIMARY SCHOOL,GUNTHORPE PRIMARY SCHOOL or WELBOURNE PRIMARY SCHOOL? You can update yourself by clicking the link above…or reading my previous blog posts. Since my last post there has been many updates in regards to all THREE of the Schools. Firstly Norwood… Norwood is the last of the three schools to be provided with the safer parking banner after my request. The reason for this is up until the last Full Council Meeting[…]

Voters backing Liberal Democrats in best results since ’96

The Liberal Democrats have just had their best year of Council by-elections in 20 years!   It ends a year of enormous growth for the Liberal Democrats, with fantastic by-election results, and tens of thousands of new members. People across the country are now voting to reject a politics of fear and division and instead voting for hard working Liberal Democrat Councillors who represent the united, open and tolerant Britain we live in. Not since 1996 when records began have the Liberal Democrats been getting better results. Then John Major was still the Prime Minister, the Spice Girls were heading to their first Christmas number 1 and even Baddiel[…]

More done in last 5 than previous 40 years! Claims Cereste!

Did you get to hear the interview with Cllr Marco Cereste on BBC Radio Cambs directly after the 2014 local election results? It was certainly interesting, as he admitted to speaking with certain “other” councillors about enabling him to maintain his position as leader of the City Council – but which opposition councillors? – CERTAINLY none of the Lib Dems! He also went on to make one of his classic claims, stating “Me, as leader of the Council, have done more in the last 5 years in our city then has happened in the last 40 years in our city!” – Doesn’t say much for the 5+ years prior to his[…]

Our council group is bigger than the Liberals and[…]

Boro @LibDems 2014 Local Election #Manifesto

The Tories have been in control of Peterborough City Council for 14 years! During which time they’ve sold off the silverware, closed public toilets, seen some of their own councillors jailed, arrested or simply resign! And of course continued to receive thousands of pounds in extra salaries, while making countless mistakes! We think it’s time for change! What do YOU think?
