Care Quality Commission

Do you know where and how to decide on the care for your loved ones? The Care Quality commission is an independent regulator of health and social care in England.  Which launched a campaign to inform those choosing care for either themselves or loved ones of the role CQC (Care Quality Commission) has on the inspection, regulation and ratings of homes so you can make a more informed decision.  Making sure it’s right for you. Choosing the right care for yourself or loved ones can be stressful and confusing.  So many organisations are offering what seems to be very pleasant and enjoyable care.  But how do you really know?  the[…]

Community Asset – St Georges Hydrotherapy Pool

‘St George’s Community Hydrotherapy Pool is an essential asset to Peterborough’s residents’, Simon Barkham said. I was invited to visit St Georges Hydrotherapy Pool in Park Ward (Dogsthorpe Road) Peterborough.  As soon as you arrive, it’s easy to see how loved and valued this venue is by so many people.  Everyone who was there had only the best of words to say about their experience and about the treatment they’d received by using the facilities and also about the staff too. Thomas Booker showed me around the facility and he too, had only good things to say from the perspective of an employee.  I could see that he and the people[…]

We want Electric, When do we want it? Now!

Sustainability, efficiency, eco-friendly or carbon neutral. You might have seen & heard the rhetoric coming from most major media channels lately.  It’s because we as a nation and a world, need more environmentally friendly methods of fuelling our transport.  Fossil fuels exhale too much Green House Gas (GHG) for our planet to cope with.  And GHGs don’t just come from fuel. CO2, Methane and Nitrous Oxide (NOx) are all potent gases that are slowly engulfing our planet in a blanket.  A blanket that will cause almost irreparable damage.  What’s the solution I hear you ask.  Well, we can all get on our bikes and ride into a nice green,[…]

Food Glorious Food

The weather is getting colder and the nights are drawing in, Christmas is coming….. Is Christmas-time something everyone looks forward to?  The people who visit the food bank every Thursday at the Hampton CSK Church have mixed views.  The costs of purchasing presents and the additional expensive food stuffs for the festive season are enough to push many families finances over the limit.  Its a time the food bank experiences higher than normal visits, which means we are an essential form of temporary support for those families that are already living week to week. The food bank operates from 19:00 to 21:00 every Thursday where they offer free grocery support[…]

Simply visit: Did you know …… Over 50,000 members have joined since last year’s EU referendum! Since I joined the Liberal Democrats 17+ years ago, I’ve seen membership grow by 80% in Peterborough. Liberal Democrats are the main challengers in Peterborough, providing a strong and united opposition to the Conservative controlled City[…]

Gunthorpe Ward: Safer Peterborough Speed Signs (Councillor Bond)

FANTASTIC NEWS FOR GUNTHORPE RESIDENTS!  Like many wards in Peterborough and of course all over the world, Gunthorpe is faced with the many motorists which deem it appropriate to SPEED. One of my first pieces of casework when I was elected back in May 2016; was the implementation of the 30mph speed limit signs at the beginning of Manor Drive (See Below). Manor Drive is a fast growing estate in Gunthorpe, located adjacent to Paston Parkway…however despite the speeding it was yet to have any speed provisions implemented. Before Christmas, Manor Drive was lucky enough to receive Speed Bumps as an extra provision to help tackle the on going issues[…]

#RunawayHorses : Update

Do you live in Gunthorpe, Drive through Gunthorpe or Live Locally?  Have you noticed the Mischievous Horses that keep escaping on to Manor Drive and Paston Parkway? You may have seen my previous posts in regards to the #RunawayHorses. Whilst out and about in the ward last year I was stunned to find a Horse wandering around on Paston Parkway towards the centre of the Gunthorpe Roundabout ( You can read the original post on my Facebook Page or Blog by looking for #RunawayHorses). Luckily on this occasion along with other residents I managed to bring the Horse to safety and reunite the Horse with it’s owner. However unfortunately, even though[…]

Parking Safety in Gunthorpe- Update

Norwood and Gunthorpe Primary School Recap: You may have seen my many recent Facebook posts and blog posts regarding Gunthorpe Primary School, Norwood Primary School and Welbourne Primary School. I started working with all three of these primary schools before Christmas; after I was contacted by many concerned parents/carers and residents. Concerns were raised over many factors but primarily and most importantly the SAFETY of the CHILDREN.  (To update yourself click here) In one of my previous Blog Posts you may have seen that PCC had agreed to undertake assessments to assess whether further parking restrictions were needed and would be beneficial in the streets surrounding all three of the Primary[…]

You can update yourself by clicking the link above…or reading my previous blog posts. Since my last post there has been many updates in regards to all THREE of the Schools. Firstly Norwood… Norwood is the last of the three schools to be provided with the safer parking banner after my request. The reason for this is up until the last Full Council Meeting[…]

Where do we stand when it comes to education?

People often ask us what we would do differently if Liberal Democrats were running the city council, here we turn our attention in this issue to education. So, what would we do? We would put more investment into education and make better use of the pupil premium – government cash which allows schools additional money for disadvantaged pupils. We would aim to raise ‘aspirations’ by showing the benefits of education. For example, we would invest in a major ‘careers fair’ to show that good, well-paid jobs are available to pupils from any background who work hard at school. We would make better use of buildings that the council already owns which could be used for educational purposes – such as the Central[…]
