Lib Dems WOULD invest £29.5m to protect school funding in Peterborough

Under Liberal Democrat plans, £29,574,162 more would be invested in schools and colleges in Peterborough. The funding for Peterborough would reverse cuts to frontline school and college budgets, protect per pupil funding in real terms and ensure no school loses out from changes to funding arrangements. The funding would be spent on protecting the Pupil Premium, introduced by the Liberal Democrats to help the most disadvantaged children – which has seen schools in Peterborough receiving hundreds of thousands of £’s in additional funding already! Children in Peterborough are being taught in overcrowded classes by overworked teachers – but Theresa May doesn’t care. Under the Conservatives, funding per pupil is set to see[…]

St George’s Community Hydrotherapy Pool

St Georges Community Hydrotherapy Pool  Back in December I was lucky enough to be asked to visit St George’s Community Hydrotherapy Pool by the lovely Karen Oldale. I of course graciously accepted this invitation. Upon my visit, I invited a fellow Liberal Democrat to accompany me. Although I had family members that had made use of the pool through their careers; I hadn’t visited myself before. When we arrived we were very warmly welcomed by the whole team and were provided with Lovely Blue Shoe Covers (Ha Ha). We were then taken on a tour by the Lovely Robert and Karen who explained the ins and outs of the pool![…]

Classroom Cams

Classroom cams Consequently, it may surprise you to know that front line teachers in two schools in the UK are already using body cameras to deter bad behaviour in the classroom. Industry sources have also told me how they are working to develop and support body cameras for use in “non-enforcement” including schools, environments. While body cameras have been in use outside UK classrooms for school crossing patrols for a while, this move towards teachers wearing cameras in the classroom is a relatively recent development. Both schools are using the body cameras in line with education board approved policy and guidelines, meaning that all footage is recorded with government approved encryption.[…]

Ofsted Report says, #Peterborough “pupils attending a good or better primary school, is well below average.”

Ofsted, the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills, have now published their latest Local authority school improvement inspection report for Peterborough. The Tory controlled City Council are focusing, unsurprisingly, on the report’s mention that attempts for improvement in Peterborough are considered as being “effective”, BUT, what they are neglecting to address publicly is the heavy criticism made in relation to most of the actual targets and standards that pupils should be reaching or receiving. For example, inspectors pointed out that whilst the local authority had some “ambitious” plans to improve standards, “..the extent to which each school must contribute ….is not spelled out clearly and specifically in the council’s strategic[…]
