#Walton bus shelter news ………….

In response to a recent article in the Walton FOCUS Team newsletter about people wanting a bus sheter in Corfe avenue, Cllr Asif Shaheed and Cllr Nick Sandford, have now received an email from someone near the proposed location who is very opposed to the idea, on the grounds that it might attract young people to hang around and cause trouble. Nick has been told there will be a public consultation on the issue later this year before any decision is made. Good news on lighting and MUGA in #Walton

At the recent meeting of Full Council in the town Hall, Cllr Nick Sandford asked a question on the state of street lighting in Walton. He spoke about the Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) in Mountsteven Avenue where the lighting has only just been repaired after a year out of action! Nick also asked the cabinet member responsible what can be done about the lights on and near the Rhubarb Bridge,  many of which had been not working for over three months! Fane Road tree cuts

Last year, the council put new street lights in Fane Road. The Walton FOCUS Team received complaints about the positioning of a few of the lights and it was pointed out that some were being put very close to trees. The guys in Walton predicted at the time that this would cause problems and now it has. Council contractor Enterprise wants to cut back some of the trees ….. to improve the lighting. Walton Residents Can Now FaceBook Their Councillors

Residents living in Walton, are now able to communicate with their local Lib Dem ward councillors, via a dedicated Facebook page. The Walton FOCUS Team have been representing local residents for over 20 years, undertaking regular residents survey’s + delivering hundreds of editions of their popular FOCUS newsletter. The decision to launch the Facebook page, aims to compliment the fact that residents can already contact either Cllr Shaheed or Cllr Sandford directly, by email, phone, post, or by visiting them at their monthly ward surgery that takes place on the first Friday of each month at the community centre.
