Free community bulky waste collections will be available for residents across Peterborough

As part of the authority's on-going work to tackle fly-tipping and littering and coinciding with our new Love Where You Live campaign, we are launching collections in each ward for the remainder of 2026/27.

The collections start on Saturday 3 October in Bretton and during October they will take place in Glinton and Castor, Park ward, Fletton and Stanground and Eye, Thorney and Newborough.

Residents can take waste to collection points in their ward, which will be marshalled by staff. A list of confirmed collections including dates/times and locations, can be found below.

Liberal Democrat Councillor Chris Wiggin, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “We are fully committed to tackling littering and fly-tipping and want to do everything in power to achieve this. By introducing free community bulky waste collections, we are giving our residents a convenient way to get rid of their household waste.

"I urge everyone to take advantage of these collections if they need to. Our proposals include increasing free collections to two per year in each ward during 2027/28 and we will announce details in due course. I would also remind people that there are several ways to get rid of waste legally including using our Household Recycling Centre and there is plenty of advice about correct waste disposal on our website."

The council recently launched Love Where You Live to highlight how litter and fly-tipping damage our environment, harm wildlife, costs substantial money and spoils the place we call home.

The campaign, which is being actively promoted on our social media channels under the banner of Love Where You Live, emphasises that everyone has a part to play in tackling the problems and that by disposing of litter and waste properly, residents can help the council save money and create cleaner and stronger communities.
