The annual Civic Service at Peterborough Cathedral marked the formal installation of the Mayor of Peterborough, Cllr Chris Harper, bringing together civic leaders, community representatives, faith leaders and invited guests for one of the city's most significant ceremonial occasions.

Held within the magnificent surroundings of Peterborough Cathedral, the service celebrated the beginning of a new civic year and reflected on the important role of the Mayor in representing the city and supporting communities across Peterborough.

The ceremony recognised the city's rich history and traditions while looking ahead to the opportunities and responsibilities that the year will bring. It also celebrated the values of public service, leadership and community that are at the heart of civic life.

Among those in attendance were the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Andrew Bond, and Deputy Mayoress, Cllr Jade Seager, who joined fellow civic representatives in supporting the Mayor and Mayoress as they began their year of service.

Deputy Mayor Cllr Andrew Bond said:

"The Civic Service is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the importance of public service and the responsibility that comes with representing our city. Peterborough Cathedral provides a truly inspiring setting for this special occasion, bringing together people from across our communities as we look ahead to the year of service before us. It was an honour to be part of such a meaningful celebration. Jade and I are looking forward to working to support Chris and Rita however we can in the year coming."

As the new civic year begins, the Mayor, Mayoress, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress look forward to representing Peterborough at events across the city, supporting local organisations and celebrating the people who make Peterborough such a vibrant and welcoming place.
