Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress Join Celebrations for Peterborough Lido's 90th Birthday
Historic Peterborough landmark marks nine decades with a fantastic community celebration
Deputy Mayor of Peterborough, Cllr Andrew Bond, and Deputy Mayoress, Cllr Jade Seager, were delighted to attend the celebrations marking the 90th birthday of the iconic Peterborough Lido.
The special pool party brought together residents of all ages to celebrate one of the city's most treasured landmarks, with families enjoying a day of fun, swimming and entertainment in the sunshine. It was a particularly hot day, making it the perfect opportunity for visitors to cool off with a refreshing swim.
Originally opened in 1936, the Peterborough Lido has remained a much-loved attraction for generations of local people and continues to play an important role in the city's leisure and community life.
Speaking after the event, Cllr Jade Seager said:
"It was a real pleasure to celebrate such an important milestone for one of Peterborough's most iconic attractions. The Lido is a fantastic place to have right on our doorstep, and it was wonderful to see so many people coming together to enjoy the celebrations. There was such a brilliant atmosphere throughout the day, and events like this remind us just how fortunate we are to have facilities that bring our communities together across the generations. Here's to the next 90 years of making memories at the Peterborough Lido."
The Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress congratulated everyone involved in organising the event and thanked the staff and volunteers whose dedication helps ensure the Lido continues to thrive for future generations.
