A proud occasion celebrating new British citizens in Peterborough

Deputy Mayor of Peterborough, Cllr Andrew Bond, was honoured to lead his first citizenship ceremony this week, supported by Deputy Mayoress Cllr Jade Seager, as they welcomed Peterborough's newest British citizens.

Citizenship ceremonies are among the most meaningful civic occasions, marking the culmination of each individual's journey to becoming a British citizen. Surrounded by family and friends, those taking part celebrated a significant milestone in their lives as they made their pledge of allegiance and commitment to the United Kingdom.

The ceremony reflected the diversity that makes Peterborough such a vibrant and welcoming city, with people from a wide range of backgrounds coming together to celebrate this momentous achievement.

Deputy Mayor Cllr Andrew Bond said:

"It was a tremendous honour to lead my first citizenship ceremony as Deputy Mayor. Becoming a British citizen is a truly life-changing milestone, and it was a privilege to witness the pride, joy and excitement shared by everyone taking part. On behalf of the city, I offer my warmest congratulations to each of our new citizens and wish them every success for the future."

Deputy Mayoress Cllr Jade Seager added:

"Citizenship ceremonies are always incredibly special occasions. Seeing individuals and families celebrate the end of one journey and the beginning of another is both humbling and inspiring. It was a privilege to share such an important day with our newest citizens, and we are proud to welcome them into the Peterborough community."

The Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress congratulated everyone who received their citizenship, recognising the dedication and commitment that had brought them to this memorable occasion.
